Opsa computerized system that integrates distribution with manufacturing by identifying requirements for finished goods and producing schedules for inventory and its movement within the distribution process. Distribution resource planning systems receive data on sales forecasts, customer order and delivery requirements, available inventory, logistics, and manufacturing and purchasing lead times. This data is analyzed to produce a time-phased schedule of resource requirements that is matched against existing supply sources and production schedules to identify the actions that must be taken to synchronize supply and demand. The effective integration of material requirements planning and distribution resource planning systems leads to the more effective and timely delivery of finished goods to the customer, and to reduced inventory levels and lower material costs.Abbr. Стратегия обеспечения ресурсами территориально распределенной производственной структуры (с несколькими удаленными друг от друга площадками). Иначе говоря, DRP увязывает между собой несколько MRP-площадок, являясь своего рода синтезом MRP и SCM. При этом площадками могут быть как производственные, так и торговые подразделения компании.
Есть и другая трактовка этого термина - планирование распределения ресурсов. В этом случае говорят о DRP как о методологии эффективной организации каналов сбыта.

планирование потребности в распределении
1. Функция определения потребности в пополнении запасов центров дистрибуции. Используется метод календарной точки заказа, когда плановые заказы на уровне центров дистрибуции «разворачиваются» при помощи логики mrp, чтобы стать валовой потребностью для источника поставки. В случае с многоуровневыми сетями дистрибуции этот процесс «разворачивания» может продолжаться сквозь различные уровни региональных складов (главный склад, склады заводов и т.д.) и стать входными данными для главного календарного плана производства. Спрос, передаваемый на поставляющие источники поставок рассматривается как зависимый, и применяется стандартная логика mrp.
2. Более обще, расчеты пополнения запасов, которые могут быть основаны на других подходах к планированию, таких как заказ за период или «поставь в точности то, что было использовано», и не ограничиваются методом календарной точки заказа.
